Hawaii’s ornaments were created by local middle school students attending the Drop-In After School Program at the Susannah Wesley Community Center. Their inspiration was the unique multi-ethnic culture and natural beauty of Hawaii. With the help of Emily McIlroy, an art instructor at the Honolulu Museum of Art, students used a variety of materials including acrylic paint, post cards, tissue paper, ribbon, pipe cleaners, and glitter to convey the spirit of Aloha. The Drop-In After School Program at the Susannah Wesley Community Center is located in the heart of Kalihi on the Hawaiian Island of Oahu and provides a safe, supervised, and fun location for students to go to after school.
