Nebraksa’s ornaments were created by the young men and women residing at the Lancaster County Youth Services Detention Center. The concept of this year’s ornaments, imagined by artist Bri Murphy, combines the individual voice of each participant within a celebration of state pride. Each ornament contains a handwritten message that is unique and personal to the individual while the outside depicts that artist’s sentiment for their homeland. Murphy is a resident artist at the Lux Center for the Arts, a non-profit center which provides outreach programs for a multitude of diverse populations, maintaining a priority to the enhancement of the community through the visual arts.
