St. Joseph’s Indian School
South Dakota’s ornaments were created by the sixth, seventh and eighth grade students at St. Joseph’s Indian School, which serves Lakota (Sioux) children. While sharing their heritage and the South Dakota way of life, the students learned to work with mixed media. Pulling inspiration from tribal flags, traditions, and our cold Dakota winters, they planned out their design and used several types of material. After all the long hours and hard work, everyone is proud to share these ornaments with the nation!
