Alaska

Alaska’s ornaments were designed and created by K-8th grade students at Brisson School of Art in Anchorage, Alaska. The inspiration to create these ornaments came from Alaska’s rich, natural resources, wildlife, geography, and history. Each student researched facts about the state and created art pieces that reflected the following: The State Flag, State Flower (Forget Me Not), State Tree (Sitka Spruce), and State Bird (Ptarmigan), The Gold Rush, Trans Alaska Pipeline, Salmon, Grizzly Bear, and Puffins. All ornaments were made with clay. Some of the pieces had wire and bead work incorporated with them. The students were honored to have the privilege of creating these ornaments for the National Christmas Tree, and were proud to represent Alaska.
