Independence Academy Charter School

Colorado’s ornaments were designed and created by 7th grade art students from Independence Academy Charter School in Grand Junction Colorado. To make the ornaments cohesive, students each used a piece of donated apple wood from Fruit Basket Orchards as their canvas. On one side students designed a scene that would represent Grand Junction, on the other side they used a common quote that is said in the area. As the first ever school from the Western Slope to get to represent the state of Colorado, students were ecstatic to be selected for this honor! IACS is a charter school serving 345 students grades K-8.
