Susannah Wesley Community Center-Afterschool Program

Hawaii’s ornaments were created by local middle and high school students attending the afterschool program at Susannah Wesley Community Center, located in the heart of Kalihi on the island of Oahu. Their inspiration was Hawaii’s beautiful beaches and to convey the spirit of Aloha. With the help of Lisa Shiroma, an art instructor at the Honolulu Museum of Art, the students used various colored chalks, yarn, sand, seashells, and various beads that included beach glass beads to create their artwork.
