Missouri’s ornaments were designed by artist Michelle “Mike” Ochonicky, and made by 136 students of McCluer South-Berkeley High School in Ferguson, MO. The color theme is black and white, with touches of red; the year is on the bottom, with red berries and pine branches on the top. The Gateway Arch serves as a giant hook, holding a lantern, as a symbol of the holiday season, representing the hope that Missouri serves as a light for truth and justice (as recent events in Ferguson have drawn national attention to the area). "Missouri" has joyful winter touches of snowflakes and a candy cane, all set against snowy crystals, frosty swirls, and sparkling gold to highlight the beauty of the season.
