New Hampshire Veterans Home Residents – Tilton School Students

New Hampshire’s ornaments for 2014 are the product of an intergenerational partnership of residents of the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, N.H., a long-term care facility for the state’s elderly and disabled veterans, and students from the Tilton School, a nearby independent, coeducational, college preparatory school for 9th to 12th grade. The teamwork was facilitated by the New Hampshire Department of Cultural Resources. A weekly intergenerational get-together became a brainstorming session for the group about all the unique features of New Hampshire – from the natural wonders of the White Mountains and its many lakes, brilliant fall foliage and winter sports, to the annual excitement of NASCAR racing. Pictures from magazines, paint, ribbon and cotton puffs and found materials including leaves and pine cones were all used to execute the NH-centric designs.
