North Dakota

North Dakota’s ornaments were designed and created by 2nd and 3rd grade students in Thompson Public School’s Extended School Program. After learning about North Dakota’s rich history and traditions linked to it’s bountiful land, students chose to include 2 themes on each ornament. Theodore Roosevelt State Park, the International Peace Gardens, the Badlands, Prairies, Early Settlers and Lewis and Clark, State Symbols such as the Prairie Rose, State Flag, and Northern Pike were all featured on the 2 sided diorama ornaments. The ESP students worked hard every day after school drawing and coloring the background s of their ornaments and then chose the features they thought would best fill their chosen North Dakota theme or “scene” in the ornament...with a little ND snow thrown in for good measure!
