Rebecca Stockdill
Warwick Museum of Art

Rhode Island's ornaments were created by 24 children ages 8 - 17 as a community-wide event hosted by the Warwick Museum of Art (WMOA). The ornaments were inspired by the natural beauty, history, and heritage of "The Ocean State" and the children hand-painted fish, starfish, crabs, lighthouses, and sailboats; shells and natural elements were also added to ornaments. The children worked with instructor Rebecca Stockdill who encouraged them to paint a replica ornament for their home trees. The replicas will be displayed in the main gallery of our non-profit arts center located at 3259 Post Road, Warwick, RI during a November-December exhibit so that local visitors can also see the 2014 RI State Tree ornaments.
