The U.S. Army Blues

The U.S. Army Blues, a component of The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” is the premier jazz ensemble of the US Army. Comprised of exceptional musicians from across the nation, the Army Blues fulfill their mission through public concerts, educational outreach, and the preservation of the tradition of America’s unique art form, jazz, at prestigious festivals and famous venues across America and abroad. In collaboration with the Library of Congress, the Army Blues play seldom-performed yet historically significant music from the Library’s archives. The musicians of the Army Blues also perform regularly at the White House, the State Department, and for high-level military ceremonies and events in and around the Nation’s Capital. The Army Blues’ latest project is an educational initiative titled Blues Plus You, consisting of a new CD combined with a suite of free downloadable materials. On The U.S. Army Band’s website, students and educators can download the sheet music for each song on the CD, as well as play-along recordings for each instrument. Blues Plus You is designed to equip and inspire students and educators alike as they study the jazz tradition. More information about Blues Plus You and the Army Blues can be found at usarmyband.com.
